No festive season is complete without some great entertainment for the whole family, and a mainstay of the Christmas calendar is the panto!

Coventry has a packed programme of theatre fun, as well as music and cultural events to get everyone in the Christmas spirit this December.

The city’s Belgrade Theatre is serving up Beauty and the Beast as its 2021 Coventry panto. One of the most popular panto titles ever, it promises magic, mayhem and monstrous fun.

For something to entertain the younger children this Christmas, Santa’s Magical Mystery Guest brings Santa, Rudolph and Ellie together in a show packed with Christmas songs and plenty of festive cheer. Aimed at children aged two to seven years old, it’s a good alternative to a pantomime in Coventry this Christmas.

Also at the Belgrade, its B2 auditorium will host Simon Callow’s acclaimed one-man adaptation of the ultimate classic Christmas tale, A Christmas Carol, starring David Bradley of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones fame. So if it’s an alternative to a Christmas panto in Coventry that you’re after, check out this evening of a much-loved Christmas classic, along with mulled wine and live music.

For another opportunity to take in some festive theatre in Coventry, The Albany Theatre presents A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Directed by Kevin Shaw. Delve into Charles Dickens’ timeless Christmas classic this Winter as it jumps from page to stage, brimming with heart-warming merriment and Victorian charm from December 4th to Boxing Day.

The Very Hunger Caterpillar is making his way to Warwick Art Centre Coventry and bringing his friends with him. Enjoy four timeless stories brought to life in one delightful Christmas show. Dive into Eric Carle’s bright and colourful world as his beloved stories are transformed from page to stage, using a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets and charming music.

Festive music in Coventry

Christmas in Coventry isn’t just about a pantomime. If it’s Christmas music you’re after, enjoy the beautiful harmonies of G4 in the festive setting of Coventry Cathedral on Tuesday, November 30th.

Part of G4’s biggest Christmas tour to date, Jonathan, Lewis, Mike and Duncan will perform timeless Christmas classics including When A Child is Born, Silent Night and All I Want For Christmas and more. Enjoy their festive music, or buy VIP tickets, including a pre-show Meet and Greet before the show.

For lovers of classical music, enjoy a romantic candlelit experience at Coventry Cathedral, thanks to Viennese Christmas by Candelight on Friday, December 17th. UK based chamber orchestra London Concertante will perform classics including Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and the Blue Danube Waltz. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some festive culture courtesy of the beautiful setting of Coventry Cathedral.

Make 2021 a Christmas to remember, with a special screening of family favourite The Snowman accompanied by a magnificent live orchestra. Immerse yourself in this magical award-winning concert, set within the splendour of Coventry Cathedral.
