Is Coventry a good night out?

In a word, yes. If it’s a good night out you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place. Coventry nightlife has it all, from pubs and bars open late to nightclubs and events. Traditional pubs sit side-by-side with modern cocktail bars and clubs, offering something for everyone. Whether it’s a quiet drink or cosy cocktail, a big night out, or a late-night of dancing, we’ve got it all.

Best pubs in Coventry

How can we choose the best when they’re all so great? Coventry is home to plenty of pubs, with many serving craft ales and guest beers brewed right here in the city by names including Dhillon’s, Twisted Barrel and Byatt's.

You’ll find Coventry’s oldest pub, The Old Windmill, on Medieval Spon Street but across the city there are plenty of other watering holes to enjoy a drink in, from historic pubs dating back centuries to dog-friendly Coventry pubs or plenty of Coventry pubs with beer gardens to enjoy in summer.

Coventry nightlife for students

When it comes to a great Coventry night out, there are plenty of bars to choose from no matter who you are. Coventry nightlife is great for students and non-students alike, with something for everyone’s taste and budget.

In the city centre, the Slug & Lettuce has its own beer garden and outdoor bar right next to the Cathedral Ruins, while The Botanist and The Cosy Club are popular haunts for cocktails or pre or post-dinner drinks, as well as Turtle Bay, which arrived in the city in 2021. There are plenty of independent venues to try and plenty of Coventry bars open late for the night owls among you.

Does Coventry have nice bars?

We’d argue that all of Coventry’s bars are great, but if you’re looking for something a bit different there are plenty of options for a quiet cocktail. For pre or post-theatre drinks near the Belgrade Theatre, there’s the Artisan Bar & Grill House or the theatre’s very own Nineteen 58 bar. For a stunning setting, check out Generators, the rooftop bar at the brand new Telegraph Hotel or Dhillon’s Spire Bar, nestled in Christchurch Spire.
